Title: Church Women United Collection, 1943-2009

Arrangement
The collection is arranged in seven series.
Abstract
Church Women United was founded at Berea College in 1943. Berea's chapter of Church Women United was part of the national movement through which any woman of any denomination could volunteer and work together. The chapter met periodically for worship, study, and fellowship. In that order the main activities were WORLD DAY OF PRAYER, on the first Friday in March, MAY FELLOWSHIP DAY on the first Friday of May, and WORLD COMMUNITY DAY, on the first Friday in November. Any offerings collected on those days were used to support self-help projects in many parts of the world. Many women joined this organization to give them a vision of kingdom-building, making them more enthusiastic and effective in their own church family. The last acting president of the Berea chapter was Eleanor Workman, and the last meeting for worship was fall 2004.
