Title: Rural Institutes of India - Education and Training Project

Abstract
In conjunction with the Ministry of Education of the Government of India and the National Council of Rural Higher Education (U.S.), Berea College provided technical assistance, training, and educational programming to the Rural Higher Institutes in India during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Consultation and programming included work by Berea College faculty in India and on the Berea College campus (including a semester long study program for Indian students at Berea). The two main areas of focus for the project on the part of Berea were research and extension work in rural areas. For Berea College, Dean Louis Smith served as Educational Advisor and Campus Coordinator and Luther Ambrose served as a consultant.
